Executive Directors

Farid Manshaii
President & Co-Director
Farid Manshaii is an interdisciplinary researcher and entrepreneur whose academic foundation spans neuroscience, bioengineering, psychology, and addiction pharmacology, all cultivated through training at UCLA and Keck Graduate Institute. He has led NIH-funded studies, developed public health startups, and received national recognition for innovations in health technology. At TRI, he directs strategic initiatives and translational research efforts—bridging systems thinking with implementation science to drive real-world impact.

Anushka Guymon
Co-Director
Anushka Guymon is a behavioral health specialist with expertise in clinical psychology, autism intervention, and neuroscience education, with academic training in psychology and neuroscience at UCLA. With field experience at EasterSeals Southern California and training across academic research institutions, she applies her knowledge of developmental science and mental health to co-lead TRI’s operational strategy. Her work ensures TRI’s interventions remain ethically grounded, culturally responsive, and psychologically informed.

Dr. Thomas Lobl
Senior Advisor
Dr. Thomas Lobl holds a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University with postdoctoral training at Caltech and Rockefeller University. He has over four decades of experience leading R&D in pharmaceutical and biotech sectors, with a focus on peptide chemistry, auditory therapeutics, and drug-device innovation. At TRI, Dr. Lobl lends his expertise in translational medicine and therapeutic development to guide scientific strategy and innovation modeling.

Shepard Bentley
Senior Advisor
Shepard Bentley is a regulatory affairs strategist with more than 30 years in the medical and pharmaceutical industries. He is President of Bentley Biomedical Consulting, where he advises companies on FDA/Health Canada approval pathways, digital health compliance, and regulatory innovation. At TRI, he provides regulatory oversight and strategic consultation, ensuring that innovations advance through scalable, compliant, and implementation-ready pathways.

Dr. Loren Martin
Senior Advisor
Dr. Loren Martin brings extensive leadership experience across academia, digital health, and behavioral science. He is the George B. and Joy Rathmann Endowed Professor at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI), where he also directs the PhD Program in Applied Life Sciences and serves as Associate Vice Provost of Research, Innovation, and Partnerships. Formerly Chief Scientific Officer at Alter Behavioral Health and Co-Founder of Mindfuli, Dr. Martin has led pioneering work at the intersection of mental health, data science, and translational innovation. At TRI, he advises on institutional structuring and strategic alignment with KGI to support the institute’s long-term development.
